Arching Cedars, 30" x 40" Oil on canvas
In Kathleen's words: "I painted this the autumn of 2012, and it was quite near the Cedar River--about 100 yards or so-- along a path I like to take through the woods. It took a couple of weeks to get enough sunny days (sunny at the right time of day, of course) to get it finished--because I wanted to show the rays of sun over the trunks and foliage in the foreground. I loved the crazy arch--cedar trees always make these wonderful curved shapes with their trunks and branches. That winter we had some big winds and everything changed--a tree fell near there and, though the arch is still there, lots of branches came down around it and the view is completely different. That's life in the woods...I was glad I got to spend time drinking it in and painting it."
Drawing will take place on October 31, 2014
Good luck!
