About Somebody Wake Me Up:

“Somebody Wake Me Up” is based upon the playwright, Jonathan Mayer’s experience as a 16 year old student at Kent State University in 1969-1970, and his friendship and love for Allison Krause, who was one of the students who was slaughtered on May 4, 1970, during an anti war protest on campus, following Pres. Nixon’s announcement of formal US involvement in Cambodia. The play is at once a story of suddenly lost innocence, and the conflict between desire for political involvement, being a teenager, and wanting to “get on with life.” It is also a drama about unrequited love and death against the backdrop of a crucial time of conflict and change in American history. The Kent State shootings helped to turn the tide of public opinion against the Vietnam War, and unalterably changed the lives of a whole generation of Americans—including Jonathan’s life.

The Cast of Somebody Wake Me Up:
Keegan Atkin (Jon)
Chelsea Braden (Allison Kraus)
Phil Giesy (Jonathan)
Tom Heller (Mr. Jackman)
