The Youth Short Play Festival, which began in 2024, is one of our newest learning programs that encourages expression and creativity in students. Each spring, we invite and receive play submissions from participants in Maple Valley and surrounding areas. Playwrights in grades 6-12 submit their short plays, and up to six plays are chosen to receive a professional production produced by the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council and local actors.

A: We have a created a submission form, which is available here. Please fill out a new form for each play.

Q: IS THERE AN ENTRANCE FEE FOR MVCAC YOUTH SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL?

A: There is no fee to submit your play.

Q: WHAT ARE AGE GROUP REQUIREMENTS FOR PLAYWRIGHTS?

A: Grades 6 through 12.

Q: WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTAL?

A: MAY 15, 2025

Q: WHAT LENGTH OF PLAY IS ACCEPTED FOR THE FESTIVAL?

A: 8 to 15 minutes.
