From: The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council

Happy New Year to you and yours!

This message comes to you with the wish that it finds you in good health and comfort. As the winter season makes its presence felt with particularly icy temperatures this week, we are busily mapping out the year ahead of us. We're thrilled to announce that there are numerous exciting updates to share for some of our traditional events. Make sure to stay connected by reading our monthly emails, attending our monthly Business Meeting, or by regularly checking our website for the latest updates.

Speaking of which, we would like to remind you about our MONTHLY MVCAC GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING scheduled for January 18 at 6:30 p.m. This gathering is not exclusive; on the contrary, it's open to all MVCAC members who wish to participate, learn, and contribute to the proceedings. Looking forward to seeing you at the MV Creative Arts Center!

We also cordially invite you to grace our OPEN MIC event on January 25 at 7 p.m. with your melodies, instruments, or Spoken Word. This Open Mic is a platform to showcase your brand-new song, recite a touching poem or simply enjoy the thrill of jamming with others. It's a free venture that takes place on the last Thursday of each month. Add this upcoming event to your calendar by clicking on the image above.

Following this, we have the Midnight Mystery Theater team set to return to the MV Creative Arts Center February 3 at 7 p.m. with THE CASE OF THE MISSING UNDERSTUDY. Ace reporter Lois Lockwood (Gail Wamba) is assigned to interview Broadway legend Jack Hughman (Larry Albert) at the opening of a Broadway musical, riding the wave of Hamilton's success, titled Cleveland-the President-Not the City-the Musical! However, the plot turns when the latest understudy for the lead role is mysteriously murdered. You don't want to miss this kooky tribute to Broadway and President’s Day that will leave you racking your brain, trying to figure out who the murderer is. Get your tickets today (click on the image) online and secure your seat in this fun filled mystery.

One date to add to your calendars immediately is for an event we are quite proud of- MV IDOL, JR. 2024. This year marks our 14th year of celebrating this delightful event. Please spread the word that the registration process kicks off February 3 at 9 a.m. on our website. We will be accepting applications from 30 contenders to audition on March 2. From this talented pool, we will be choosing 14 singers to proceed to the final round, set to take place on May 17. An updated Frequently Asked Questions has been updated and posted to our website where you will find a few new changes such as – solo singer ages accepted are 8 -16; we are accepting 14 singers rather than 13 to go to the live rounds; and we are allowing 4 additional applicants to be placed on a waitlist for the finals.

Apart from this, our SLUG HUNT 2024 adventure is in full swing, with over 500 ceramic slugs already generated. We aim to make this event more exciting and innovative - we have several creative ideas in the pipeline. As soon as we finalize them, you will hear about them - loud and clear! There's a lot more being worked upon, however, we believe in the power of suspense, so we'll reserve some information for our future newsletters.

In addition to everything else, this year we are planning to extend our scope of engagement in various volunteer opportunities. We take pride in our events, and it's well known how brilliant our event leads are in their respective roles. However, we cannot deny that extra help in numerous facets would greatly contribute to maintaining the joy and significance that our events infuse. Therefore, we encourage you to stay updated—keep an eye out for the kind of assistance each event requires.

And, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support, that truly fuels our commitment to these programs. We genuinely couldn't do this without each one of you being a part of our journey!

Sincerely,
The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council
