Hello MVCAC Family,

Are you ready for an action-packed February and March? We've lined up some thrilling events that you won't want to miss! 
 
First, are you looking to connect with your community? Join us for our Monthly General Membership Meeting on February 20 at 6:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to network and stay informed. 

 
Get ready to laugh your heart out at our comedy show, "The Case of the Missing Rockstar," presented by the Midnight Mystery Theater team on February 15 at 7 p.m. at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center. It's guaranteed to be a night full of fun and mystery! 
 
Immerse yourself in the swinging '60s as Nick Stupido, a swinging '60s Private Eye, gets hired by a psychedelic rock band, The Indebted Deceased, to locate their lead singer whose romantic interest in the daughter of a gangster who he owes gambling money to had mysteriously disappeared, the love -in becomes a mystery-in. Join Nick Stupido in his far-out adventure as he encounters mobsters, hippies, an Italian crooner, a tall jockey, a sneaky mind reader, and a rock band badly in need of talent and a concept called reality.

Calling all young stars - Maple Valley Idol, Jr. registration opens on March 1 at 9 a.m. 
We are excited to kick off our 15th season of Maple Valley Idol, Jr. and this year we have some exciting changes. We've split the categories to give everyone a fair shot.
 
- Young Stars: ages 8-12
- Teen Stars: ages 13-16 
 
Get ready to register on March 1 @ 9 a.m. The link will be live on our MVCAC Home Page, contestants will register by their age. We have 20 spots available and 6 waitlist spots for each age category. First Round tracks will be due Sunday, March 16. Auditions for those registrants will take place on March 29, and the grand finale takes place on May 30 at the Tahoma High School PAC.

Calling All MVCAC Member Artists: Submissions Open for ArtWalk
Heads up, local artisans! We're thrilled to extend an invitation for you to participate in our upcoming Maple Valley Creative Arts Council Spring ArtWalk. As the calendar turns to Wednesday, March 12, we're eager to fill our evening with distinctive and unique art masterpieces, crafted by skilled creators such as our very own MVCAC artists.

We're excited to showcase a diverse range of artworks that will be available for purchase at not one, but two different locations starting March 12:
  • Exhibit 1 - 6:00-6:45 pm @ the city hall building for savory bites
  • Exhibit 2 - 7:00-8:00 pm @ the mv creative arts center for salty snacks
We genuinely hope to see your creative pieces amidst the array of remarkable artworks. So come on, let's paint the town with creativity and make this art walk an unforgettable celebration of local talent!

MVCAC 2025 ARTWALK SIGN-UP
 
A couple of things to note:
- The show is for MVCAC members only.
- If you are not a member and want to be eligible to display your art - sign up is easy, click here.
- Works must be ready to hang.
- Number of pieces in the show depends on the number of artists and space allowed in each location. 
- Please use the following link to provide a list of artwork title, dimensions and prices.  
- Artists will sign a prospective agreement.
- Art needs to be dropped off March 9, 12-2 p.m. or March 10, 2-4 p.m. at the MVCAC.
- Works will be hung for three months at the chosen locations.
 
 
Join us for this fun and free event on March 13 at 7 p.m. for JC's Improv Night! 
We're buzzing with excitement to announce the launch of our freshest, most lively event yet: JC's Improv Night! Our fabulous new Youth Board Members, John Riedel and Cole Wolf, are ready to lead the charge into a world where imagination reigns and every twist and turn brings delight. Open to all ages, this vibrant monthly gathering invites you to either step into the limelight on stage or simply enjoy the impromptu hilarity from the audience.
 
JC's Improv Night is all about embracing the art of performing without a script, encouraging quick thinking and lots of laughter along the way. Whether you choose to participate actively or watch from the sidelines, prepare for an evening filled with fun, friends, and unforgettable moments. Mark your calendars for the second Thursday of each month at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center.

Get Ready for a Slug-sational Adventure!
Calling all families and community slug enthusiasts! The countdown begins for our highly anticipated Annual Slug Hunt, and we're thrilled to announce the date is set! Mark your calendars for April 26 at 10 a.m., dust off those magnifying glasses, and get ready for a day full of fun, laughter, and slimy surprises!

Gather your slug-loving crew together and grab your hunting licenses early on our website here.
 
 
Gentle Reminder
Lastly, we're accepting submissions for the Youth Short Play Festival—open to Grades 6-12. Your chance to shine is just a script away. Submit your 8 to 15-minute masterpiece and become one of the eight finalists whose plays will take center stage at the prestigious Maple Valley Creative Arts Center on Oct. 18. This is your moment to shine and share your creativity with the community!
